Agreed that "you are appreciated" is kind of "I love you mom" in passive voice and a funny lyric tbh. The song didn't definitely didn't do his mom Afeni justice--she was actively involved in the Black Panthers in New York and one of the defendants in the infamous Panther 21 trial, at that time the longest criminal trial in New York history. She was pregnant with Tupac in jail during the trial, and then years later he released "Dear Mama" from prison.
